Tjønnås is located 400 msl, east in Hjartdal kommune.
Gunleik is the third generation Skårdal who runs a farm here, after his grandparents bought Tjønnås in 1943. Torild and Gunleik took over the farmkeeping in 1986, and kept cows for milk production as well as sheeps, until 2003.
As the time went by, we needed to work more and more beside the farm to keep a decent income. We kept the sheeps, went over to nurse cow, and started with bees. Then the idea crossed our minds that we could magnify the sheep meat, and make e.g. "fenalår". Luckily it fell to taste for more than just us.
Gunleik is a carpenter, with spesial interest for restaurations, which owners of houses and cabins around Tuddal take pleasure in. Besides, he has interests in hunting, old weapons, organ, and folk-music. He plays hardingfele, wich is a special, traditional norwegian violin, with 8 strings.
Torild is an agronomiost and musician, employed as an organist in Hjartdal, in a 50%-position. She leads a choir, and has some student in the cultural school.
Our two sons are:
Svein Olav, 24; eldest son, soon ready to take over the farm. Works as a carpenter in Hjartdal.
Trygve is 21 years old, and works as a machine operatior.
Both has years of experience as violin player, corps musicians, and rockers. Trygve still plays the violin, and together with his mother, he will also play guitar and flute whenever some spare time is found.
